It is with a sad heart that I have to inform you that our Past President, AFA icon & Latymer Old Boy stalwart - Trevor Syms, died yesterday 19th October 2017, after suffering a long battle against illness. He died after suffering a number of heart attacks in the past few months and also contracting MRSA in hospital during his stay. Trevor was my first captain of Latymer Old Boys 6th XI when I started playing in 1971 and I played with him, toured many times with him on Latymer OB Easter tours abroad, sat with him for many years on both Latymer and Old Boys committees in the 1970's & 80's, he certainly will be missed in our level of football. Vivien (his wife) has been in touch with the AFA today to let them know. She said that his heart gave out in the end following the various setbacks which he has suffered with his health recently and he died in hospital. I do not have any details of the funeral arrangements yet but I will circulate these when I receive them.I would ask all referees and teams to respect his memory with a minutes silence before all games tomorrow (21st). RIP Trevor I Ian Andrews AFC Secretary .
